Thank you for visiting the We Are Here, HEAR Project
We Are Here, HEAR is an open-air touring exhibition and a website featuring photographs and stories from refugees about the barriers they have experienced accessing higher education in Ireland. We Are Here, HEAR is about raising awareness of the presence of refugees in Ireland and bringing their voices into public spaces to highlight some of the considerable challenges they experience.
To understand how difficult it is as a refugee to access 3rd Level education in Ireland and how, in ‘the protection system’, one’s skill set, self-worth, and sense of identity is Deconstructed, check out our video Deconstructed with spoken word artist Felispeaks.
The We Are Here, HEAR project aims to:
- Take research outside the university and into the public forum for discussion and engagement.
- Raise awareness of the barriers to education experienced by refugees – read our community needs analysis.
- Highlight the experiences of the refugee community accessing higher education.
- Occupy public and virtual space to promote the stories and voices of a community who are ‘hidden’.
