The We Are Here, HEAR exhibition is a Photo-voice open-air touring exhibition and virtual exhibition. The touring exhibition visits Higher Education Institutions across Ireland and other purposefully selected locations due to their proximity to International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) centres.
Photo-voice exhibitions have been used all over the world to foster social change. The exhibition launched on the North Campus of Maynooth University on October 26th, 2021.
On World Refugee Day 2022 (June 14), the exhibition moved onto the railings of Mountjoy Prison, innovatively highlighting the similarities in barriers to accessing higher education that refugees share with those who have experience of the criminal justice system.
The exhibition continued to tour Ireland through 2022, 2023, and 2024. By 2024, We Are Here, HEAR had toured Higher Education Institutions in Leinster, Connaught, and Munster, the Office of the Ombudsman of Ireland, and Mountjoy Prison.
